Local Music: Sherba

Joe Coyne is Sherba…  an Irish acoustic singer song-writer who started making music at the beginning of 2020. His new EP ‘Wired To The Moon’ came out at the beginning of September. Sherba spoke to The Jumble Magazine about the EP, his inspirations, and the impact that 2020 has had on his music making.

I’d describe my music as a blend of britpop bands like Oasis and modern patchwork music. I’m also influenced by Mac DeMarco, and a lot more of the chill tracks that I come across while browsing on Spotify.

I’d say out of everything I’ve made so far, my track ‘Is It the Same’ best captures everything that I want to communicate through my music, it was released back in August this year.

Almost all of my music making has been in the lock down, or various stages of restrictions that have been implemented this year. It has been a very heavy burden on me as well as the rest of the world, but the extra time at home really helped me knuckle down on writing new material.I hope that even though the local music scene is in hiding it’ll come out in full force when the time is right…. music will never die.

You can check out more of Sherba’s music on Spotify, ‘Is It the Same’ is also available to listen to on The Jumble Magazine Local Music Playlist, which you can listen to here.
